Caged Bird Believes Flying Is A Disease

Bird born in a cage believes flying is a disease

A bird is born to be free, so if it is locked in a cage it will feel in essence limited to a tiny part.

It is as if we cut off his wings and in doing so, one of the things that characterizes him the most: the possibility of flying.

The title quote belongs to Alejandro Jodorowsky and it will serve as a starting point for us to see how something similar can happen in humans.

Metaphorically, living inside a cage like a trapped bird does not allow you to have a broad perspective of what you may have to experience.

There are people who are satisfied with what they already have, with what they believe is certain, and they do not allow themselves to explore other fields filled with new experiences.

This is not negative if it only affects the bird and if it is its own will.

The problem arises when the bird believes that the rest, and sometimes its congeners, are mistaken in flying.

A bird that stays in its cage even when the door is open

Just like a bird,  we human beings are born to guide our steps to where we want to go, in a  free  and autonomous way.

Yet for various reasons, such as education or social influence, there are people who, when they reach a certain age, park in what is called a “comfort zone” and are not able. get out of it, even if we push them to do so.

This “comfort zone” is linked to what is familiar and gives them a feeling of protection, when the routine and what is already established acts practically for them.

Indeed, it sometimes happens that they have great difficulty in “breaking out” of the models of conduct and values acquired, and that they feel uncomfortable with those which are different from their own.

Since we are free, no bird is forced to come out of its cage and begin to fly. Nobody has to stay there either.

Tolerance of understanding lifestyles different from your own is a beneficial behavior for maintaining personal relationships.

Two blindfolded eyes see more than a blind mind

One of the most famous people around the world, Nelson Mandela, believed in freedom of the mind above all else.

Blindfolded eyes will still be able to remove whatever is preventing them from seeing, but it will be much more complicated for a blind mind.

Those people who are unable to see themselves inside a cage often feel judged by fairly rigid minds: “You are crazy”, “This is not an appropriate way to behave”, “What you doing is not right ”,“ What will others say about you? ” are common phrases you hear when you dare to fly.

Whoever is in the cage constantly understands that the world is full of nuances and possibilities.

Whoever does not believe that he is a bird roots his dreams to the ground and to a closed circle.

Anyone who does not question their ability to steal questions the fact that others steal, and with them, their dreams.

You have to provoke the spirit, not fill it

If a bird has wings to fly, humans have a spirit that allows them to do so too.

Yet  there is a constant need to provoke the mind, to give it seeds to help it think,  and not to fill it with preconceived ideas.

There are people who act like a bird that has spent its entire life in a cage and is afraid of jumping when the door is opened for it.

He does not take a negative view that his fellows steal, it is just that he does not dare to do it, him. All of this has a justified reason, and in this case, all that is needed is boldness and courage.

“Sapere aude”, as the philosopher Kant would say: daring to know, to know, to use his reason to achieve it.
