Positive Emotional Intelligence Is The Key To Success

Positive emotional intelligence is the key to success

“Emotional intelligence accounts for 80% of success in life.” At least that’s what Daniel Goleman says. Hence the fact that positive emotional intelligence can be key to finding what we really dream of.

The philosopher César Ojeda, based on the studies of celebrities in the field of emotional intelligence and positive psychology such as Goleman, Fromm or Rojas, tried to explain what this union consists of, which could bring so much to our life.

Emotions and the modern world

According to Ojeda, emotions continue to be viewed as irrational when looking at Western thought structures. It is as if we have to behave as absolutely rational beings. However, this quasi-technical vision of the human being, who might as well turn into a machine, seems to fade with the passage of time. And even so, the separation of reason and emotions, when it is not the confrontation between the two, still persists.

In fact, it is still so topical that we are still operating in an industrialized environment where everything goes very quickly. In this situation, terms such as effectiveness and efficiency are synonymous with personal, social and professional success.

To this, we must add the arrival of social networks. Today, the view of the world can vary for an individual dependent on Facebook or Twitter. However, all of this leaves issues like love, feelings, equality and even unity a little bit aside.

Positive emotional intelligence to know yourself well

Many have studied the consequences that new trends have on contemporary society. As we said, Fromm and Goleman worked on this topic. But there is also Frankl’s theory. And both come to the same conclusion: you have to know yourself well. You would think that this is common sense and that it is very simple.

Remember that human beings are always the same. In reality, what changes are historical and social circumstances. But we as physical beings are the same.

This is why positive emotional intelligence is still as valid now as it was 2,000 or 100 years ago. It gives the capacity to learn to perceive, to understand and to manage in a wise and good way its own emotions.

Emotions are intrinsic to human beings

All these thinkers and psychologists therefore consider emotions as something intrinsic and specific to human beings. They are integrated into the environment of reason, and can be directed to achieve great benefits at the individual and social level. Thus, emotions are not the enemies of reason, but ideal tools to bring out all the potential that each person has in them. Thus, we achieve a healthier, more harmonious and fulfilled life.

A conjunction of wise reason and a broad emotional spectrum is the perfect combination to face any adversity that arises. Finally, isn’t knowing how to face problems a basic key to success?

“A smart person can rationalize anything, a wise person doesn’t even try.”

-Jen Knox-

Positive emotional intelligence is the key

If we manage to find the path of emotional intelligence, with its wisdom approach to facing the world, with the positivism of the individual who always wants to improve, that results in a happier human being.

This is why Ojeda, like the psychologists on which he bases his studies, proposes to forget a little the contemporary aspiration of the sophisticated and technicized professional. We must not fit into already preconceived models but make the models suitable for humans.

“Western businessmen often do not realize the importance of human relationships”.

-Daniel Goleman-

This is why positive emotional intelligence is an ideal tool for finding the fullness of life. We must forget the excessive objectification of the human being and the search for high professionalism. According to the authors, the key to success may really lie in the wise combination of reason and emotions.
